Ernest Briggs

Hello My name is Ernest Briggs I am a student at the University of St. Thomas I have always wanted to be a teacher and I have always wanted to help other students of color like myself who live and are edcuated in the inner city.

Personal Teaching Philosophy: To understand my philosophy you need look no further than the motto on the top of the page which reads "Learning is not enough we must apply, willing is not enough we must do." it is a qoute from a book written by Bruce Lee, yes the martial artist and actor, while this may seem odd, he was actually deeply philisophical in his lifetime, this qoute inspires me to become a good teacher. A teacher is not only responsible for educating a child, they are also responsible for teaching the child, they are responsible to show the student how to apply the knowledge they have learned, our job as educators is not done once we have taught/learned something, we must use this knowledge and in-turn teach the students to use the knowledge in their world. The second part is for everyone who ever said they were going to do something and did not do it, it plainly says being willing to do something in this world is not enough, we must get up off of our butts and do it, be it try something, embarrass ourselves, or simply help someone in need. As a teacher I will always be ready to show students how to apply there knowledge and willing to do anything to help them succeed.
